Legend of Zelda: Collectors Edition (GCN) Review

Introduction
Well most of you had read my Preview, and next to none of you agreed, well I guess you wont like the final review either, because Im not going to be nice about this.

The Legend of Zelda - 7/10
The original and first game in the Zelda series. It follows the usual top down view that is common with most Zelda games. The graphics are exactly the same as the original, even the bugs & glitches remain. My initial impression wasn't a good one, but once I go into the story and adjusted to the gameplay it really does improve somewhat. In the end, it's a game you need to stick with if you want to get some enjoyment out of it.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link - 6/10
The second game broke the standard set by the first game, and decided to give you 2 gameplay perspectives. The first is a side scrolling view, this is used for indoor sections, such as houses and dungeons. When walking around the map area, the view switches to the normal Top down view. I can't say that the side scrolling section was welcomed. It just didnt feel like Zelda, and arent we saying that today with the cell shaded graphics of Wind Waker? The difference here, is that I never got used to it, and I felt it spoiled the game.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - 9/10
It's totally the best game in the series, I love it and yes maybe I'm biased but so what, I can only say what I feel. The graphics are awesome, the story, locations, atmosphere & characters are just perfect for a game such as this. The emulation is perfect, bringing you superb Hi Res graphics, Links world has never looked so crisp and colourful. The only problems is that your saves won't work, AR codes won't work & Master Quest is NOT included.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask - 6/10
Oh dear, oh dear after seeing what they did with Ocarina of Time I expected great things for this game. I'll start with its good points firstly. The graphics are once again suberb and done in the same Hi res style that Ocarina of Time was done in. The story remains complete and everything is included from its N64 counterpart. Now to the bad points, the framerate is s***. If the slightest amount of action is going on then it will drop very rapidly, this wasn't a thing on the N64 version, so why is it on the GCN version? The converting from N64 format is apparently the reason. I don't know alot about emulation, I just know what I'm seeing here, and it's a title that needed more work and attention.

The slight sound issues that were on Ocarina of Time are even more apparent on this title. Going into other areas causes the sound to go into a mad spasm for at least 3 seconds. Freezing? Yes we have that too. Maybe I should've saved then, but if you had any knowledge of Majora's Mask, saving is a tricky buisiness. You can't save whenever you want, its only at certain times. I've had to do the first Temple 3 times now and its no fun. I've now got to the stage where I couldn't care less about the game.

The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (20 Minute Demo) - 8/10
We've all played it, and we all know what to expect here. What you're given here is 3 options and scenario's to choose from: Dungeon, Stealth & Island.
Dungeon - Starts you off in the Dragon Roost Cavern, where you must complete the dungeon there.
Stealth - This has you dodging enemy sight in the Forsaken Fortress where Link must retrieve his sword after loosing it.
Island - This allows you to explore WindFall Island, and do a spot of sailing.
It's a very good demo, and really gives new users the chance to experience the game.

The Legend of Zelda: Retrospective - 5/10
A 3 minute trailer showing footage from all the Zelda games up to this point, which is okay if you haven't seen these games before. But if you have then the movie is useless.

The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker Special Movie - 4/10
How wonderful another 2 minute trailer of Wind Waker. It's short, pathetic, and a waste of disc space. If I wanted trailers of games I have, I wouldn't have bought the games now would I? Why no making of? Or interviews? A total waste of space.

Final Score - 7/10
Overall Impressions. Zelda 1 & 2 are perfectly done, and are they're in perfect form. Ocarina of Time is again still a classic. Majora's Mask really lets down the package though, and so do the movies. As a result of this the score will be lowered. To sum the disc up - Dissapointing.
